To be(gin) or Not to(gin)

Dear Readers,

Hello there! My name is Meg and I really love to write. I have another blog called Memoirs of Meg that I attempted to keep going for eight years. After a monumental mistake occurred in which I managed to delete four years worth of blog posts I became particularly despondent. Before, during and after this I was also going through some lifestyle changes that included getting sober. (I have been debating whether I should be personal in this new blog seeing as I felt that I had been a little too personal in Memoirs of Meg, and I have decided that trying to be anything different would be doing a great disfavor to myself and anyone that happens to stumble upon this little bit of writing in the great Blogosphere). Anyway, so I decided that I would cut my losses and start something new and fresh and write about the things that get my heart racing and my soul smiling. Mostly I would like to share books and films with you. I will occasionally write about the songs that keep me going and maybe, just maybe, I will share a little of my life sans alcohol.

This blog is a review site mostly so I will be giving reviews on the books that I would like to review. I will try to give a very brief synopsis of the book without revealing any spoilers, but if I accidentally do please feel free to give me a very hearty cyber slap by letting me know that I have indeed revealed too much. At the end of the review I will give the book a star rating out of 5 stars. I read an awful lot and I read a lot of different things. Lately I have been indulging in the world of YA (Young Adult) fantasy, but this has just been a bit of a phase. I love the classics and I am not afraid of BIG BOOKS. I am the usual kind of Harry Potter fan, but not too obsessive and I have been reading the autobiographies and biographies of rock stars since I first became obsessed with the records(yes records) of the late great Bob Marley. My reading tastes are extremely eclectic and so I am not adverse to reading everything from the Beat Generation like Jack Kerouac and Allen Ginsberg, Gonzo Journalism such as Hunter S.Thompson and Rock Journalists like Lester Bangs, anything Reese Witherspoon, Oprah Winfrey and/or Emma Roberts think we should read, and EVERYTHING that Stephen King blesses the world with.

These might not be the latest DC/Marvel related stuff but I can assure you, you will learn a few things and you may even be inspired to watch something completely out of your comfort zones. I live nowhere near a cinema and so therefore do not have instant access to the latest releases. I am a lover of old Hollywood musicals from the MGM days, and the golden era of film when Audrey Hepburn and Fred Astaire and Humphrey Bogart ruled the silver screen. I am also partial to classic directors such as Stanley Kubrick, Francis Ford Coppola and my personal favourite, Alfred Hitchcock. I am not opposed to a little bit of Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino and Wes Anderson too. I also love old horror films and Vietnam War films are also a particular favourite of mine.

Basically I am a bit of a film buff and a lover of books and that is what I am going to write about.

Anyway, I hope this is going to be a great adventure because life surely is….

Yours in passionate pursuits,

Meg xxx
